Eric J. Wunder
Eric Wunder is a principal and consulting actuary with the Milwaukee office of Milliman. He joined the firm in 2009.
Experience
Eric’s expertise is in property and casualty insurance, particularly in the areas of loss reserving, pricing (ratemaking), captive feasibility studies, tort reform / legislative impacts, and pro forma financial modeling. Within this industry, he has experience primarily in commercial lines of business, including:
- Professional liability (physicians, hospitals, dentists, chiropractors, lawyers, etc.)
- General liability
- Captive or self-insurance coverages
Eric has assisted clients with several assignments, including:
- Conducting reserving analyses for a variety of entities, including primary writers, reinsurers, captive insurers, and self-funded entities
- Preparing Statements of Actuarial Opinion
- Conducting ratemaking / pricing analyses
- Preparing actuarial support for state insurance rate filings
- Making pro-forma projections
- Arranging captive and/or self-insurance funding
- Performing stochastic (simulation-based) modeling
- Providing due diligence support for mergers and acquisitions
- Conducting AM Best rating reviews
- Assessing quantitative and qualitative impacts of proposed legislation
In 2024, he was awarded a spot in Captive International's 40 Under 40 list.
Eric has published articles in Inside Medical Liability and Captive Insurance Company Reports. He also publishes quarterly articles summarizing the medical professional liability industry’s financial results in Medical Liability Monitor. He has spoken at several conferences, including those sponsored by ExecuSummit, the Medical Professional Liability Association, the Western Region Captive Insurance Conference, the Casualty Actuarial Society, and Milliman. He is also an experienced webinar presenter and speaks regularly to his clients’ boards of directors (or equivalent body).
